Most people know about Black Friday and Cyber Monday … now we have GivingTuesday, December 1, 2015. It is a new global movement for giving and volunteering, taking place each year after Black Friday. The “Opening day of the giving season,” it is a day where charities, companies, schools and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others.
To kick-off the season of giving, the APA is holding our 2nd annual winter clothing drive in support of students in need at neighbouring TDSB elementary schools. Please take a look in your closets for gently used children’s and/or adult’s winter coats, snowpants, boots, hats and mitts and drop them off between November 25 and December 1 in the box located outside the Allenby office. We will distribute the items to the schools on GivingTuesday.
Friendly request: If you are able to wash your winter wear before donating, please place a note on your donation stating that they are clean. This will help reduce the amount of laundry required of our volunteers.
