About the School

History

Allenby stands on what was once the site of a large Wendat village in the 1400s. This village likely contained several longhouses, and artifacts unearthed from the site in 1887 include stone and bone tools for sewing and fishing, pipes, pottery, and burnt corn. In 1926, the Toronto Board of Education decided to build a new school in response to local development. Named in honor of Lord Edmund Allenby, one of Britain’s most distinguished soldiers, the school officially opened on March 17, 1931. It was renovated and expanded in 1972 and again in 1994. The Allenby Parents’ Association formed in 1946.

School Day Schedule

Allenby operates on a 5-day cycle, meaning the school schedule is based on Days 1 to 5 rather than Monday to Friday. (This ensures that subjects are not missed due to statutory holidays.)
