- Would you like to share your skills as a reader with children and support early reading?
- Do you have some time during the week you wish to donate as a volunteer?
- Aimez-vous lire?
We will be starting our Reading Angels program at Allenby in the coming weeks. This program entails volunteering your time to read in English or French with Primary students. We are seeking parents/guardians who are able to volunteer one hour up to one half day per week to read in English or French with primary students (K-2).
An information meeting for interested parents/guardians will take place on from 8:15 – 8:45 am on Wednesday, March 21st in the Library Learning Commons.
Information about Volunteering in a TDSB School:
If you are interested in volunteering on a regular basis at Allenby, a completed school volunteer application as well as a current criminal background check is required and a confirmation of the check must be submitted to Allenby. If you are not able to, please submit the application form to the police department. If you are not able to drop off the form to the police department, you can submit to the main office with a certified cheque for $20 and we will submit on your behalf. Please note that it takes longer when done through the school. Hard copies of both forms are available via the links below:
For our returning volunteers, please complete the Annual Offence Declaration for Returning Volunteers to Allenby if you have already submitted a confirmation of a criminal background check to Allenby Main Office and you wish to renew regular volunteer status for this school year.
Please contact Deborah Zamin if you have any questions about the Reading Angels Program.
