Pro-Social Attitudes and Behaviours (PSAB)
The APA supports initiatives designed to improve the physical safety of students. In addition, we promote ways to facilitate respect and empathy, and to cope with peer pressure issues. The PSAB committee implements initiatives and participates with school staff to review the TDSB Safe School Policy and the Allenby Code of Conduct.
Outside Play
Throwing stones, snow, sticks etc. is not allowed. Hockey sticks, tennis rackets, bats, hardballs, skateboards, headphones, rollerblades, scooters, and bicycles are not allowed on school property during school hours.
Dogs and other pets are not allowed in the school yard.
Allergy Awareness
The Allergy Awareness Coordinator educates parents, staff and children on processes to keep Allenby an allergy aware school and helps to ensure that food is nut-free at any APA event on school property when students are present.
Please review our lunch and snack policies to keep all our students safe from potentially dangerous allergens.
Illness or Accidents
In case of illness or accident, a child is sent to the office for assessment. Appropriate first aid (cleansing, bandages, ice packs, cold compresses etc.) is given and the child is returned to class if all is well. Otherwise, parents will be notified. Parents are notified immediately in the case of any head injury.
If a child is unable to come to the office, staff assess the child wherever he/she is (yard, class, gym, etc.) and notify the office. In case of emergency, the office will notify parents and take appropriate measures (i.e. call ambulance.)
