Getting Ready for Next Year

The APA is always planning ahead and we already know what help we will need for next year! By joining the APA Team you can be part of a great community of volunteers, get to know new people and try something different!

Please take a look at the (long) list of open volunteer positions and contact Lisa Parker or Gillian Uy if anything interests you.

  • Director of Communications – Join the APA Executive and help to spread the word on all of the APA’s great programs and initiatives. The Director of Communications will work closely with APA Chairs to make sure parents are connected to what is happening in our school and community. The communications committee includes the weekly newsletter, the APA website, the Class Rep program and the school directory.
  • Co-Director of Community Awareness – An APA Executive position that involves keeping parents informed on TDSB matters and issues is a major focus of this role.
  • Co-Director of Safety – Student safety has been a major issue for both the school and the APA this year. The APA has been busy making changes around the school property and also advocating for changes in our neighborhood. Participating on the APA Executive Council, the Co-Director of Safety will be responsible for overseeing the APA’s Drop Zone and Attendance Verification Programs as well as advocating for reduced speeds, and safer roads around our school.
  • Co-Director of Fundraising – With three major fundraising events in the school year, participating on the APA Executive Council as a Co-Director of Fundraising is a commitment. Ideally this role will be shared between three volunteers so as to make the position manageable. It’s fun, it’s exciting and it’s very important to the school. Event planning, budget management and endless energy are assets!
  • Financial Officer – Work closely with the APA Treasurer on budgeting, payment and administration related APA finances. In addition to interested parent volunteers, high school students with an interest in accounting could also perform this role as part of their required volunteer hours.
  • Community and Sponsorship Relationship Manager – The APA’s fundraising committee is looking for an organized communicator to help manage our community relationships.
  • Speaker Series Co-ordinator – We’d like to plan one or two amazing speakers for next year. The Speaker Series Coordinator will identify a list of potential topics and speakers and determine which would best suit our parent community.
  •  Drop Zone Co-ordinator – Plan and manage the St. Clements and Castlefield Drop Zone Program.
  •  After 4 Co-ordinator(s) – The APA is looking for one or two parents to help with our After 4 Program. Coordinators will be involved in vendor selection and management, program and scheduling design, registration support and marketing initiatives.
  •  Lost and  Found Co-ordinator – Collect items from the school yard and organize them in our St. Clements Lost and Found area.
  •  Fundraising Events Planning – Consider joining one of our many fundraising committees. Let us know if you are interested in Big Night Out, Lip Synch or Fun Fair!
