ALLENBY IS A PLATINUM ECO-SCHOOL FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER! This is an enormous responsibility that our student population takes seriously. The more parent support we can have the better. We need parents who are interested in waste audits, waste reduction plans, Walking Wednesday, Native Shade Garden development and maintenance and a few other seasonal […]

Eco schools
Congratulations Allenby Community! We have been awarded Eco Schools Platinum Status with a score of 91%. That is our highest score ever! We have remained at Eco Gold Status for the past 5 years and this year we decided to push ourselves by initiating full-school campaigns and highlighting work by individual classrooms. This work would […]
Field Update
As mentioned at the Sept. 18th APA meeting, the TDSB is currently reviewing a proposal to install artificial turf at 9 schools over the next 5 years, one of which is Allenby. We are now awaiting the outcome of the next review of the proposal, scheduled to take place on Wed. Oct. 23. Stay tuned […]
Boomerang Lunch Is in Effect
We will be reactivating and enforcing our Boomerang Lunch policy this week with the help of our great Grade 5 leaders, that we now call the Boomerang Squad. Daily messages on announcements have been reminding students to bring reusable containers, and to take any garbage home from their lunches. Only milk cartons will be recyclable. […]
Bursting with bulbs
The 5th annual bulb planting took place this week. Thank you to Eleanor and Megan for their assistance on Wednesday. We helped the Allenby students plant over 1100 bulbs this year, so our total number of bulbs planted is well over 5000 in 5 years. Please remember to keep the children off the marked gardens […]

We still need volunteers for Thursday November 3rd, both a.m. and p.m. Please e-mail Alex at alex.vilde@rogers.com with your availability. We are also looking for parents who […]

Over the past 4 years Allenby students, staff and parents have planted approximately 4000 bulbs. We are hoping that in our 5th anniversary we will be able to plant another 1000 bulbs to bring […]

Or maybe you’d like to get more involved with greening initiatives in the community. As always, we are looking for parents to continue our greening projects after this year. We are also looking for parent volunteers to help with this year’s greening projects. Please look at the following things, and contact Alex Vilde at alex.vilde@rogers.com […]
Boomerang Lunch Is Back
Boomerang lunch has officially started. Please ask your children to bring everything home from their lunches (including leftover food, and wrappings). The only things that they should not bring home are their recycleable drink containers and the straws that they use. This is an excellent way for you to find out what your children are […]
EcoSchools Needs Parent Volunteers
We are still looking for parents to take on some of the EcoSchool duties from Alex Vilde, who will be leaving Allenby after this year. The idea is to learn from Alex some of the activities she has been involved in and what has worked for each task in the past. Below is a list […]
