Allenby impresses in TDESAA fall sports

What a Fall! Congratulations to all of the students that participated in our Fall sports: Girls Baseball, Boys Baseball, Football and Cross Country. In total 5 pennants were awarded to Allenby for their success on the playing field.

The boys baseball team reached the Conference Finals after coming first in their tournament. The team demonstrated great ability throughout the season. Thank you to Miss Anderson for helping out with the boys’ team.

The girls baseball team was also a force to be reckoned with as they captured a second consecutive championship in dramatic fashion. The girls entered the final inning of their City Championship game against G.A. Althouse up by 2 runs but Althouse scored 3 runs in the top of the final inning to take the lead. Down to their final out Allenby stormed back scoring twice to win the championship. Thank you to Miss Chase for her efforts with the girls.

The football team also demonstrated great grit during their season. Finishing second in their tournament, the team advanced to the playoff round, capturing the Conference title in thrilling fashion by defeating Blythwood in the final minute of play—final score 8-7. The boys then defeated Brown 24 to 0 to advance to the city final only to lose to Lambton Kingsway in a close game. The team finished a tremendous season as City Finalists. Well done boys! Thank you to Mr. Whitaker and Mme. Pryor for their help with the football team.  A big thank you to Mrs. Uy, Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Caritey-Yung for all of their help.

The cross-country team had another very successful year. Over 100 participants went to the first meet and we also had 14 participants in the TDSB All-City Final. Our grade 4 girl’s team and grade 6 boy’s team both came in 4th at the City Final. Congratulations to all our runners! Many thanks to our teacher volunteers without whom cross-country could not have happened: Mrs. Centeno, Mr. Gillespie, Mrs. Kanarek, and Mrs. Chau. Also, many thanks to our parent volunteers!
