Allenby Families,
Many of you may have received a flyer over the weekend or will in the next few days, urging you to come to the April 16th meeting to “Save your community”.
It is important to know that this flyer was not sent by the Full Day Kindergarten (FDK)/Space Committee or the APA, but another group of parents. Those parents, like any Allenby parents, are entitled to express their views on how Allenby should accommodate the introduction of FDK at Allenby in 2014-2015 and Allenby`s projected student growth. While not completely accurate this flyer does speak to the urgency of being informed and making your preferred option heard.
As the Allenby Space Committee, we want to ensure that all Allenby parents are informed of every available option as we incorporate FDK and growth in student enrollment.
As mentioned in the Allenbeat on Thursday, most of the March 27th APA meeting will be devoted to this issue. We will be outlining all options under consideration, and will be seeking to obtain the preferred Allenby options to accommodate FDK and increased enrollment at Allenby. Our two PART representatives will then take these preferred options to the April 2 PART meeting, where all representatives from the other schools involved in the PART process will do the same.
Allenby parents will have another chance to discuss the options at the April 16th Public Meeting. No decisions about how to accommodate FDK and increased enrolment at Allenby will be made without consulting with the Allenby Parents. We hope that you will come to next week’s APA meeting to fully understand the options for Allenby and voice your thoughts on those options. Don’t wait until April 16th.
Babysitting is available with an RSVP to Paula Riczker if you require childcare.
As mentioned in Thursday’s Allenbeat, more information about the Space Review Process is available from the APA website. Please look at the top right tab called “FDK.” This section is full of FDK data and information about the PART process.
