Staffing News for 2012-13

We have some changes in staff for next year. Mary Ann Calvieri, our Teacher Librarian, is retiring. Mary Ann has had a 31-year teaching career. Before coming to Allenby 12 years ago, she taught in Kindergarten, a few years in Core French,  Special Education and Library. She came to Allenby 12 years ago and has been a contributing member of our Learning Community in so many ways. We will all miss her and wish her all the best for this new stage in her life.

In other staff news, as you will have heard, Kindergarten EAs in regular programs are being cut across the board, so we need to say goodbye to Pamela Cousins and Polly Chattergoon. Thanks to both of them for all they have done for our students and all the very best to them in whatever their next endeavour should be. Edna Clarke, who has been working with us this year in the afternoons as a Special Needs Assistant in the Kindergarten is retiring. Thank you and all the best to her as well.

Zack Frankel, who came to us in September for reorganization to teach JK, is also leaving us for a full-time position at his other school. He has done a great job coming in under difficult circumstances and working so hard for the benefit of his students. Thank you and best wishes to him. We will miss him.

We will be welcoming 2 new teachers to Allenby staff. Logan Anderson will be teaching in the new Grade 1 classroom and we will welcome Melissa Line back as a permanent teacher in Grade 4/5 French Immersion. Many of you will remember that she was an LTO with us three years ago.

We still have a vacancy in the .5 afternoon French Drama Dance position. This vacancy will be posted again and the position filled either next week or early in July.

Attached are the teaching assignments for 2012 – 2013 as they stand right now. It is important to know that it is possible for an LTO to get a permanent contract position during the summer, so these assignments are contingent on those teachers still being available in September. If a permanent contract is assigned to any of them, the vacancy will be posted early in August so that someone is in place in good time for September.
