First of all, thank you to the many, many parents who attended the Public PART meeting last night. We clearly showed the severity and complexity of the issues facing our school to absorb Full Day and Kindergarten and allow sufficient space for population growth. But, despite our attendance, the enormous amount of work that has taken place to get to “viable” scenarios, unwavering support of our Principal, the hard conversations and the unending debates, however unpalatable, there were neither answers nor reassurance given. We deserve more.
While we are waiting for the results of the survey (please see Principal, Jennie Ucar’s message below), the clear majority of parents, along with the TDSB, support a 2-room build at Allenby in conjunction with the repurposing of room 006 and reduced French Immersion enrollment going forward in order to find the space for FDK and increased enrollment in 2014.
THIS PLAN MUST GET APPROVED TO KEEP THE ALLENBY COMMUNITY IN TACT AND OUR CHILDREN AT THIS SCHOOL. THAT IS CLEAR. SO, NOW IS THE TIME TO STAND UP, SPEAK UP AND TAKE ACTION TO ENSURE THIS BUILD GETS APPROVED!
We know there are various plans developing to take a stand, as there should be. And, we know that it is unlikely we will all have the same voice, use the same language, or the same tactic. However, you choose to articulate it is your choice. But LET’S NOT DILUTE THE MESSAGE THAT WE NEED THE CAPITAL TO FUND THIS BUILD. By using this as your primary message, a stronger and more unified voice will show support for a build and as a result show the pending conflicts that will result should the funds not be approved.
We strongly suggest you take action in support of the above and make contact with the following individuals:
