Dear Parents,
Halloween is a big event in schools and provides opportunities for parties, creative activities, art programs and of course our annual Halloween Parade. Halloween is being celebrated at Allenby on Halloween, even though it is on a Monday this year. Our Halloween Parade takes place near the end of the school day facilitating more parents being able to join us and allows all classes participate in the parade outside. Our kindergarten classes will start their parade around the track at 2:45 p.m.. Following their parade, kindergarten classes will either sit on the rocks to watch the rest of the school or go to the kindergarten yard to play before pick up. The Grade 1 to 6 classes will start their parade at 3:00 p.m. Parents that would like to join us to view the parade are asked to stand in the field to ensure they are not blocking any pathways for students (students will be walking the track). In the event of rain, students will travel throughout the building; however, please understand that we cannot facilitate parents in the building to view the parade given the capacity of our building and our narrow hallways.
When selecting a costume to be worn to school, please ensure that your child can see clearly if wearing a mask and that no toy weapons are brought to school. When contributing food items to any class parties, please ensure that they are nut free (and meet any other allergy restrictions that may exist in your child’s class), we would hate for a student to have an anaphylactic reaction on one of the most fun days of the year.
Classes will also be participating in the second annual pumpkin-carving contest. Pumpkins will be on display outside of the office (I thought I was a winner last year but am working on improving my carving skills).
