The LAST APA meeting of the 2012-2013 school year is happening next week on Tuesday, June 18th from 7-9. Please note this is a change from the usual third Wednesday of the month because of graduation. As is customary at the June meeting, our Co-Treasurers will present the Draft of the the proposed budget for the 2013-2014 school year. It is presented and discussed briefly at this meeting and then further discussed and voted on at the first meeting of the year at the end of September. If you are not familiar with the APA budget, not only is there presentation of the proposed revenue and expense items but this is also a good opportunity to further understand how the APA operates from a financial perspective. Once the budget is passed, the Treasurers report back to the parents monthly as to how we are tracking against the budget. Motions passed during the year are added to the budget.
At the meeting next week, all of the Directors (Health and Safety, School Programs, Communication, Fundraising and Community Awareness) will communicate open committee positions for next year should anyone be interested in taking on a new role :).
We will also be saying hello and good-bye. Cate Spidle, our new Principal, effective September 1, will be at the latter part of the meeting to introduce herself and say hello. At the end of the meeting, I am inviting everyone to help say good-bye to our current Principal, Jennie Ucar. We will have a small reception to thank Mrs. Ucar for her leadership, guidance and commitment to Allenby these past years.
