Monthly Math Challenge

Dear Allenby Parents and Guardians,

We are now in Year 2 of our school-wide Monthly Math Challenge at Allenby P.S. As you may know from past Principal’s Messages, the idea of the Math Challenge is to share an open-ended math question at the beginning of each month with all classes, K–6.

Students communicate their computational and reasoning skills in English or en français, in writing, models, QR codes etc. As students complete the challenge in class, teachers post samples from JK-grade 6 on our display board near the main office for students to enjoy and discuss. We will often find small groups of students gathering to see what other students have come up with and to converse about the challenge at the display board in both French and English.
