Dear Parents and Guardians,
Have you heard of any fun and exciting events happening at Allenby? Can you take a guess? I will give you a hint. It’s not Lip Sync, and it’s not the Fun Fair. It’s the Dance-A-Thon!
This year we are raising money to ensure that Ethiopians have access to clean water. Students who are a part of the grade 6 Me to We group have been working hard to make this event possible. With your help, we can raise money to ensure that Ethiopians live a sanitary, healthy life. Did you know that approximately 30% of Ethiopians live on $1.25 or less in just one day? I can’t even imagine having only a small fraction of the money that we use in one day.
Would you like to help these people in Ethiopia? If so, you can support our clean water initiative by asking your friends and family for money to donate to our Me to We fundraiser. We are asking for $20 per student, but any amount is very much appreciated.
We will be selling fantastic glow items at the Dance-A-Thon to add to your donations. Over the next couple of weeks, your child(ren) will be coming home with a pledge form for you to record the donor’s name and donation amount. It doesn’t have to be a lot of money, even if it is only a loonie, every bit counts!
There will be a bin in the office for you to put your donations. If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause, please put the funds, either cash or cheque, along with your pledge form in the office by Wednesday, March 6.
The date of the Dance-A-Thon is Wednesday, March 6. Grade 6 Me to We members will be going around to each classroom to educate your children about why we are fundraising for Ethiopia and why the clean water initiative is so important. They will also be teaching your children more about Me to We.
Thanks again for your support! We are all so excited about this upcoming event. Remember every donation counts. So let’s start changing the world!
