Dear Parents/Guardians:
Yesterday we received information from a neighbouring school about a suspicious person in the area of Roselawn and Avenue Rd who appeared to be following a student as she made her way home from school around 4:15pm on Monday. The student was fine and did the right things to ensure her safety. The police have been notified and are investigating.
For your information, the person is described as male, in his early 30’s, about 6’ tall, with glasses, an olive complexion and dark hair. At the time of the incident he was wearing a black hoodie, and was seen getting into a dark coloured car.
The safety of our children is a top priority. We are fortunate to have a number of initiatives, programs, and policies that contribute to a caring and safe school. However, most incidents happen away from school and outside of school hours. Allenby PS was not asked to issue the safety alert; however, with some Junior students walking home without adult supervision, the Health and Safety Committee of the APA wanted to share this information with our parent community and take this opportunity to remind families to review safety tips with your children and look out for one another. It takes a village to raise a child. Let’s continue to build a strong community.
