Principal’s Message

It was a pleasure to meet so many parents and to see such a huge turnout at the first APA Meeting on Monday. For those who were not able to attend, Ms. Themeliopoulos and myself will be in the library tomorrow morning, Friday October 2nd, from 8 to 9 am. I will also share the powerpoint on Special Education on Friday morning. For those parents unable to attend, I have attached the presentation to this newsletter for your reference.

Last Friday was our first Spirit Day and it was great to see so much gold throughout the school. Although Emily was not able to join us due to a set back, we were able to share our spirit with her through a digital slideshow. This Friday, October 2 is our Terry Fox Run. Once again we are reminded of the impact of cancer on children, adults and families. In honour of Terry Fox and to recognize the 35th anniversary of the Marathon of Hope, we are participating in the Terry Fox Run. Students are asked to bring a “toonie for Terry” with donations going to cancer research. The run will take place in our new schoolyard at the start of the day and will begin with our grade 6 students, finishing up with our kindergarten students before the start of morning recess. Students are asked to bring theirtoonies out to the yard where we will be collecting them at the start of the run. Let’s work together to beat this disease.

Staffing Update

Ms. Frankel, our Grade one teacher in 108B decided to resign last week. I am happy to announce that My-Linh Chau took over teaching Room 108B on Monday. Ms. Chau is an experienced teacher who in the past 5 years with the TDSB, taught at Glen Park. She was sad to leave Glen Park but excited to join us at Allenby after hearing great things. She has already made a huge impact and we welcome and support her in this new position.
