Many teachers at Allenby are either changing their grade assignment or classroom in September. Consequently, there are boxes being filled and starting to accumulate around the school. Students are also expected to do some housecleaning next week to ensure that all personal items go home before the last day of school. If you are in the school next week, please take a look through the Lost and Found just in case something that belongs to your family is hiding there.
We know that everyone is starting to wind down the school mindset and looking forward to summer activities, however, we would like to have potential volunteers think over the summer about some exciting opportunities. Volunteering at Allenby is one of the most important ways that you can contribute to your child’s school experience. The Kiss and Ride programme is critical to maintaining safety for our students in the morning, and we will be sadly saying good-bye to a very dedicated KnR dad, Stephen Dawang, who has been outside at the curb almost daily for a number of years. How will we ever replace his commitment to student safety? Our ECO Team is thinking of many projects that can be initiated with our students if we are able to engage some community members. Of course, there are other ways to volunteer, such as serving in the APA, helping out with the office Safe Arrival programme, applying to become a Class Rep, participating in Walking Wednesdays (or form a Walking School Bus), signing up to help in the Library, come for a Scientists in the Schools day, participate with Pizza Lunch days, and of course field trip or sporting event supervision. The happiest people are usually the busiest people, and we can certainly try to keep you busy. Contact the school office if you would like more information about any volunteer position.
