Dear Parents,
To all our students, families and the staff at Allenby, it has been an amazing year and I can’t believe that I joined Allenby just a year ago! Allenby truly has become home and the strong sense of community is evident to everyone who enters our building.
I want to thank the Allenby Parents’ Association, especially our APA exec members who have worked many hours alongside me this year and have been extremely supportive of “Mrs. O’Toole’s new ideas and changes”. Special thank you to Paula Riczker the Chair, Lisa Parker the Vice Chair, Scott Larin the Treasurer, Gillian Uy and Shannon Phillips for all their work last summer and over the course of the year on our new school yard. Without the support of the APA and parent and community volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do!
I wish you all a safe and relaxing summer vacation. I hope you are able to spend time with friends and family and perhaps do some reading, travelling or pursue some interest or passion. Best wishes to all our graduates and to those students who will not be returning to Allenby in September. I wish you all much success and look forward to hearing about your future accomplishments. Please make sure you are sun safe, street smart and water wise! Rest, relax, have fun and return to us safely on Tuesday September 6th!

On a final note, class placements – this is not an easy process and our staff members take this very seriously. Although I did receive parent input, these are not treated as “requests”. We use this information in conjunction with a number of other sources of data and strive to create balanced classrooms based on academics, social/ emotional factors, behavioural considerations, gender and overall class size. I will not be meeting with parents to discuss class placements. Please help your child get excited about next year by modeling enthusiasm and optimism.
I said in the fall that this year will be the best year yet…I lied…next year will be!
