New Parking Signs

As you may have noticed, the signs were recently changed on Castlefield Ave. Unfortunately the signs posted are incorrect. We are not sure how this error occurred but would like to see it rectified as soon as possible. We’ve contacted Karen Stinz and her Constituency Assistant, Michele Sardy, to request that the signs be changed as soon as possible and that there be no parking enforcement on Castlefield Ave until the signs be changed. The signs were supposed to read: ‘No Parking 8:30-9:30am, Monday to Friday except holidays’ in the Kiss ‘n’ Ride zone with no mention of permit holders in that area. We need to keep the KNR zone open for the KNR program to run smoothly.

We have formally requested to have the permit parking on St. Clements and Castlefield changed to an earlier time to allow vehicles to park legally west of the school before and during school hours. We are awaiting follow-up and a response from Karen Stinz’s office but will continue to pursue this change as well.

Recent Tickets
It appears that many Allenby families received tickets on Thursday, January 27th. The first day of the sign change. If you received a ticket in the KNR zone just east of the school yard on the north side of Castlefield, you should call to try to  have this ticket reversed. If, however, you received a ticket in any of the tow-away zones, i.e. the area in front of the Kindergarten zone on Castlefield or the Bus zone on St Clements, those tickets will not be reversed as you are not permitted to park in those zones at any time during the day.

Voice Your Concerns
This is a good opportunity for Allenby families to voice their concerns about the parking and traffic situation around Allenby school. Michele Sardy’s contact information is mcsardy@toronto.ca and her telephone number is 416 392-4088.
