Heritage Months & Days of Significance

The TDSB is proud to recognize important days of significance throughout the school year, including a number of heritage and history months. TDSB Committees, made up of community members and staff, are in place for many of these to plan activities that celebrate the month and our diverse TDSB community.

Days of Significance:

• May 21–23rd: Shavuot—A Jewish celebration of the receiving of the Torah
• May 24th: Victoria Day—Queen Victoria’s birthday on May 24^th, 1819
• May 24th: Pentecost—A Christian celebration of the descent of the holy spirit
• May 24th: Buddha’s Birthday—Celebrated either in April or on May 24^th
• May 27–30th: Eid al-Adha—An Islamic holiday commemorating the Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son

• Mental Health Awareness Month
