On Saturday, April 16, the coast of Ecuador was hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake destroying many cities, killing at least 655 people and leaving more than 29,000 people homeless.
In an effort to relieve the people of Ecuador, the Embassy of Ecuador will be collecting funds and the donation of certain items.
You can help by donating any of the following items:
- Water filters brand Lifestraw (Family 1.0 or Community)
- Canned foods (easy open lid, grains, pasta, etc. with expiry date longer than 6 months)
- Tents
- Sleeping bags
- Flashlights
- Batteries (for flashlights)
- LED and halogens lights
- Band-aids / bandages / cotton / gauze
- First aid kit / face masks / surgical gloves
- Sunblock cream / mosquito repellent (cream or liquid)
- Candles / mosquito nets
- Baby diapers / baby wipes
From April 29 to May 6 2016, there will a donation box by the St. Clements’ entrance. The collected donations will be dropped off at the Consulate of Ecuador in Toronto who will ship them to Ecuador through Avianca and Copa airlines at no cost.
