Byte-Sized #4

Coming to a class near you! As part of the technology spend voted on by parents last year, there are now 30 netbooks to be housed in Allenby’s new mobile storage cart. These netbooks will be rotated in one month periods through classrooms whose teachers have expressed interest and signed up for their use. This experiment with one-to-one computing will not only give Allenby’s staff and students invaluable experience in the coming wave of technology in the classroom, but by all accounts (hopefully) increase student engagement in their learning; watch this space for postings of their progress. The netbooks’ first assignment is with Mme. Payne, room 112. Incidentally, the unit of netbooks rotating through Allenby’s ‘family of schools’ finds itself in Allenby this month, with M. Hussain, room 205. So, for this month there are actually two classrooms where each child has their own device.
