April APA Meeting Recap

Thanks to the many of you that attended last night’s APA meeting. There was good discussion around the technology expenditure proposed for 2012-2013 that will be voted on at the May meeting. I encourage all of you who were not at the meeting to read the minutes when they are posted on allenbyparents.com. This is a significant expenditure of funds raised by the Allenby parents!  Please come to the May meeting to vote.

Also discussed at last night’s meeting was the APA Exec Board for 2012-2013.  As I shared with the meeting last night, I will be stepping down as Chair next year.  After 3 years in the position, it is time for change, for Allenby parents and for me. We have a fantastic school with extremely skilled and talented parents, and I have loved working with so many of you. But this is an exciting opportunity for someone new to step in as Chair. I would be happy to speak with anyone that is considering the position to let you know what it entails, time commitments, etc. Feel free to email me and we can set up a time to chat.

All Executive Positions are open and voted on annually at the September meeting. Some of the current chairs have expressed interest in staying on the Executive Board. However, we strongly encourage others to step forward. We love Co-Directors in roles as it shares the workload, adds creativity to the role and allows a larger Executive Board which in turn as more voices at the table. Please don’t assume that we don’t need you or that the APA will run itself. We need your voice.
The executive positions are as follows:
Director(s) Health and Safety

Director(s) Communication

Director(s) Community Awareness
Director(s) Fundraising (the position was vacant this year)
Treasurer – Stuart Baltman, our phenomenal Treasurer for the past two years, will be stepping down.
Secretary

For more information on any of these important roles, again, please feel free to contact me.
