Principal’s Message

We are well on our way into a new school year. Progress reports will be sent home on Thursday with all grade 1 to 6 students. These reports are intended to provide you with an early indication of how your child is progressing at this point in the school year. The progress report does not contain grades. A large focus for the Progress Report is the Learning Skills: Responsibility, Organization, Collaboration, Initiative, Independent Work and Self-Regulation. The subject comments describe the strengths and next steps for learning relative to the student’s progress towards the achievement of the curriculum expectations.

A Parent-Teacher interview evening will take place with the Term 1 report cards that are sent home in February. The first term report cards will include letter grades. We always encourage regular, ongoing, home and school communication. Report Cards are just one way that schools help keep parents/guardians aware of how their child is doing in school. I encourage parents to use the agenda to maintain regular communication with their child’s teacher. Parents can also contact the school to arrange to meet with their child’s teacher. It is important that everyone is working together and that we have open communication to support our learners.
