Happy New Year to all of our Allenby families. I hope that 2013 brings each of you health and happiness.
The APA has lots in store for the next few months so here are 10 highlights to get you all excited!
1. Lip Sync is scheduled for February 21st and 22nd. For those of you who don’t know, Lip Sync is an Allenby tradition where students (and sometimes others 🙂 get a chance to dance and lip sync to their favourite tune. It is both a fundraiser and a night of fun and spirit. More details below.
2. At the January 30th APA meeting (7-9), the Parent Survey results will be revealed. Many thanks to all of those who participated. Results will be presented by the Survey Committee and discussion will take place following.
3. We have a new Vice Principal, Elizabeth Lau, and on behalf of the parents, we would like to welcome her to Allenby. We look forward to working together.
4. As the “work to rule” continues for Elementary Teachers, the APA in conjunction with interested and dedicated parents, will look for creative ways to provide some additional activities. Most of these discussions to date have taken place at the APA meetings and then posted for interest in the Allenby Update. If there are other interested parents, please contact me and I will point you in the right direction.
5. The Space Committee will continue to work with the other schools designated and the Board to develop possible space solutions. They will keep you informed as the process moves forward.
6. Fun Fair Planning – Fun Fair is enjoyed by all in June BUT the planning takes place soon. If you would like to be involved with a fabulous group of parents, please email Lisa Parker.
7. Hush Ups are being installed this week! Allenby parents voted to purchased Hush ups for all Allenby classrooms at the December meeting. They will be installed by parent volunteers this Friday on every chair. If you are around, and feel like lending a hand, please contact Bonnie Joynt.

9. Upcoming APA Speaker: From Piggy Banks to Budgeting: Teaching your Children Sound Money Management Skills.

10. APA Tball/Baseball returns! the Blue Jays aren’t the only ones gearing up for spring training! While May/June might feel like they’re far off, planning for spring APA T-ball/baseball begins soon! It’s open to all grades JK-6!
