Fun Fair<\/span><\/h4>\n
Fun Fair is on June 3rd from noon to 4pm. It is a community tradition, an important fundraiser for our school and an annual milestone that all Allenby students look forward to each year. Having chaired the Fun Fair Planning Committee in the past, I can attest to the amount of work and effort that goes into organizing and running such an enormous event.\u00a0I can also say that it’s totally worth it when you see all of the happy faces at the event.<\/p>\n

With over 300 volunteer positions to fill, we are asking for every family to take at least one shift on the day of the event.\u00a0Inside, outside, prizes, games, food and rides -there is definitely something that will pique your interest. What to do with the kids while you are volunteering? Consider sharing childcare duties with another family, and trade off so that adults can experience the Fun Fair, but also help out (Fun Fair is even more FUN with friends!).<\/p>\n

\nAPA Meeting<\/span><\/h4>\n
Please join us at 7 pm on Wednesday May 31st, in the school library, for our APA meeting. This month, Tracey O’Toole, Allenby Principal, will be speaking about Math and the Growth Mindset, APA Treasurer, Sarosh Nanavati will be sharing the\u00a0proposed APA budget for 2017\/2018\u00a0and we will be presenting two motions for spending. The first motion requests that the APA spend up to $1000 on a storage solution for the Lion’s Den (outdoor recess equipment storage). The school and the APA plan to share this cost. The second motion requests that the APA spend up to $1000 on a retirement celebration for our two long standing teachers, Mr. G (27 years) and Mr. Osborne (25 years). This month’s childcare theme is Games Night (in keeping with our Math theme). Children are encouraged to bring their favourite board\/card games to play with others. We will also have some classics available. Childcare spots are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis. Please RSVP to Serin Benadiba<\/a> before Monday May 29th if you require childcare.<\/div>\n
