I am writing this week about a subject that isn’t very exciting, in fact it will result in you feeling itchy at best\u2026I am writing about lice. This fall we did a whole school lice check with Nit Works and we have another planned for January. Over the last week letters have been sent home with children from a few classes at Allenby and we have had a number of reported cases of lice within one of these classes. Office staff inspected students in this class and Nit Works visited the class on Tuesday in addition to siblings of students within this class. The class carpets are vacuumed nightly.<\/p>\n
As a precaution we encourage parents to check your child’s hair periodically and report to the school any presence of head lice. This allows us to send home the appropriate information regarding treatment and follow-up. Additionally, if your child has been treated for lice we ask that you report to the office following their return to school.<\/p>\n
Head lice can be passed to others and stead by head to head contact and sometimes by contact with clothing: hats, brushes, hairbands, etc. Please remind your child not to be sharing such items and thank you for helping us control this condition which is a common problem at this time of year.<\/p>\n

Are you scratching your head yet?<\/p>\n We have three Showcases over the course of the year providing opportunities for Allenby students to perform musical pieces. We will also have a Music Night showcasing our itinerant music programs and our primary and junior choirs. In the spring, we will also have a kindergarten concert.<\/p>\n There will be a dress rehearsal on the Monday before each Showcase at 1 pm providing all students the opportunity to see the Showcases. Parents who cannot attend on the evening of the Showcases are welcome to come to the dress rehearsal.<\/p>\n Each family will receive two tickets<\/strong> to attend the Showcase. We must limit the number of tickets given the fire code for the gym.<\/p>\n If your child is performing they should arrive to their classroom at 6:30 pm in order to ensure we start on time. Thank you for your understanding and we look forward to our performances this year.
