The model reflects the projected enrolment numbers provided by the TDSB based on past enrolment trends and the enrolment numbers in March. We continue to work within the framework of the Ministry of Education primary cap size of 20 students for grades 1 to 3. The model is not final, as it may have to be realigned in September if our enrolment numbers change significantly.

Student Placements

As we approach the end of this school year, we are planning for September 2014. The teaching staff and administrators will be holding placement and promotion meetings. The goal is to ensure a balance of gender, student academic abilities and strengths while considering the student social, emotional and physical needs of our students as well as their interaction patterns that enable them to work and learn together productively. Teachers are expected to plan together within grade teams so that the curriculum programming each year will be as similar as possible for students in a cohort; however, each individual teacher will have her or his own teaching delivery style. All of the above factors will be taken into account when placing students. The classroom teachers, along with the input of the rotary teachers and special education teachers, know the students very well and do their best to set them up for success the following year

Class lists may have to be adjusted late in August if there is a significant number of students moving into and out of the Allenby catchment area. This may require some minor changes to class lists to maintain a balanced, heterogeneous class profile. Therefore, student placements will be announced on August 28, 2014. Class lists will be posted on the school website identifying students by their student number. The lists will also be posted in the school using student numbers along with student initials. Student numbers (OEN) can be found at the top of your child’s report card.

Staffing Model for 2014/15 Our staffing model for the next school year has been approved by our Superintendent, Jeff Hainbuch.
