As I reported a couple of weeks ago, on Music Monday, most of the school went outside to sing this year’s song by Astronaut and musician Chris Hadfield and Barenaked Ladies’ Ed Robertson, officially titled “I.S.S. (Is Somebody Singing).” Mrs. Lau took a video using an ipad. She had to set up a private Youtube account to be able to share it. This is not a public Youtube video, and it will be taken down at the end of term. Rooms 205 and 214 were part of this year’s TDSB’s annual Music concert at Massey Hall on Thursday May 9th. The performers are selected from schools across the TDSB, some being School choirs and some being classrooms. There are also instrumental performances of Orff and Steel Pan groups as well as the City Wide Strings, Band and Orchestra. Rooms 205 and 214 learned 2 songs which they sang with the massed choir.<\/p>\n
One of our Drama\/Dance teachers, Caroline Dobkin-Kurtz, has been working with a visiting artist in her program. Michelle Silagy, a professional dance artist, has been coming in to do dance workshops with 2 classes over a period of 10 weeks. Caroline accessed an Ontario Arts Council Grant from its “Artist in Education” program. It has been a very successful collaboration, and the students have enjoyed the experience, and learned a lot about dance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
