This past month\u2019s Math Challenge\u00a0\u201cHow Many Triangles? \/ Combien de triangles?\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0was truly inspirational. Our students, as with every month, from JK to Grade 6, tackled this challenge and used clever reasoning skills to arrive at their answer and share them visually and in writing in both French and English.<\/p>\n

This past month, our classes put their own spin on the\u00a0Allenby Monthly Math Challenge<\/strong>\u00a0and began\u00a0generating their very own original math challenges<\/strong>\u00a0and sharing them by posting on their class Twitter account and on display boards in the school (see\u00a0\u201cCombien de cercles comptez-vous?\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0below).<\/p>\n

A new tradition begins: students will lead some of the monthly math challenges at Allenby!<\/h3>\n

A class of junior students has taken up the challenge of generating next month\u2019s school-wide math challenge in French and English<\/strong>\u00a0and they will be sharing it with our entire school via our shared school resources in February.<\/p>\n

Seeing learners take things\u00a0a step beyond to new heights<\/strong>, making something wholly new that wasn\u2019t there before \u2013becoming\u00a0content creators<\/strong>, authors, artists and publishers of their own original ideas \u2013 is truly remarkable to behold! I can\u2019t wait to see what they will design.<\/p>\n

Indeed, students showing leadership and initiative happens every day in our school\u2014in both academics and in the many gestures of kindness and courtesy extended to others, like the boot line below tidied by one class for another class. It is a powerful combination which fills us all with pride.<\/p>\n
