On Tues. Sept 10th, Evangeline\u2019s life came to a tragic end when she was hit by a cement truck in the Yonge and Eglinton area.<\/p>\n<p>Our heartfelt condolences to all of Vangie\u2019s friends and loved ones \u2013 we are thinking of you in this time of need.<\/p>\n<p>Evangeline\u2019s wishes were to be buried at her home in the Philippines and a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/allenbyparents.us9.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=5b5527a684a32a91614edc1de&amp;id=9e0f167a40&amp;e=f487ea71b1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Go Fund Me Page<\/a>\u00a0has been set up to help fulfill these wishes should you wish to contribute or send your personal condolences.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">As a result of this tragedy, North York Community Council passed a motion on September 16th calling for a Construction Traffic Safety Plan for the Yonge-Eglinton area including five measures:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop a traffic and pedestrian safety plan for major construction sites before city development approvals.<\/li>\n<li>Immediately provide\u00a0&#8220;safe city&#8221; driving training for all heavy construction truck drivers.<\/li>\n<li>Hire full-time pedestrian crossing guards on the site of\u00a0all major construction projects and have those guards paid for by developers.<\/li>\n<li>Install full-time crossing personnel at all intersections on Yonge Street, from Castlefield Avenue to the Kay Gardiner Beltline, and have that staff paid for by developers.<\/li>\n<li>Immediately implement\u00a0a Construction Traffic Safety Management Plan for the Yonge-Eglinton area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Vangie Lauroza.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Allenby community is deeply saddened by the loss of Evangeline (Vangie)\u00a0Lauroza, a Caregiver to two students at our school.
