With the arrival of Spring comes many new athletic opportunities for the students at Allenby. We currently have a Coed Volleyball team and a Swim team and both will be competing over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n
Track and Field<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n The first North Conference track meet is being held on\u00a0May 6<\/strong>\u00a0at Esther Shiner Stadium. Students in Grades 4-6 will be competing in a variety of different events in their gym classes. Some events will be offered during the week of\u00a0April 15-19<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0April 22-26<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Ultimate Frisbee<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n This year we will be running a morning house league for any students in grades 5-6 who want to play Ultimate Frisbee. Any students who would like to participate on our school Grade 5 or Grade 6 Ultimate Frisbee team should attend the house league regularly to develop their throwing and catching skills and broaden their understanding of the game. Ultimate Frisbee will begin next week, but is weather dependent, so students should listen carefully to morning announcements for dates and times.<\/p>\n Girls and Boys Slo-Pitch<\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n We will be entering a Girls and a Boys Slo-Pitch team this year. Students in Grades 5-6 are able to tryout for the team. Tryouts will begin the third week of April, providing the weather is cooperating. Students in Grades 4-6 will also get a chance to play house league baseball over their lunch break beginning in May.<\/p>\n Primary Students in Grades 1-3<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Students in Grades 1-3 have a number of different opportunities to be active at Allenby this Spring.<\/p>\n Our PALS program utilizes students from Grade 5 as playground leaders who help organize and lead recess games for primary students. In addition, there will also be house leagues for kickball and baseball outside. House leagues will begin in May. Until then, we will begin to provide students with equipment to use over recess and lunch breaks from the Lions Den.
