Allenby is committed to being as environmentally responsible as possible. We are a gold-rated EcoSchool.<\/strong> Ontario EcoSchools<\/a> is a program that provides strict guidelines on teaching students to be environmentally conscious, as well as ensuring the school uses environmentally responsible operating practices.<\/p>\n

In partnership with the administration, the APA promotes environmental awareness and action within the school community through environmentally-friendly practices such as communicating primarily through e-mail, using two-sided copies, and recycling. In the school community, we support Boomerang (litterless) lunches<\/a>, recycling programs, and anti-idling programs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The EcoSchools program has components in four key areas: environmental literacy, waste minimization, energy conservation, and greening of the school grounds. To achieve gold status, our school earned at least 75 points out of a possible 100 points. We are working hard to maintain this level and to continue improving each year.<\/p>\n

Walking Wednesday<\/h2>\n

The first Wednesday of every month is Walking Wednesday! We ask all the students to walk to school. Since we know that not all people can walk to school, we have some suggestions to allow everyone to participate.<\/p>\n
