iPads for kindergartners? Who would have thought? Well, a school board in Maine tried it out and found pre-reading kids benefitting from their use. They gave about 130 kids an iPad each to use for 9 weeks in class and compared their improvements to about 130 kids who didn’t get one. “In every measure we examined, the iPad students were outperforming the comparison students. When looking at short-term literacy gains, we’re definitely seeing the data trending toward favoring the iPad students.” concluded one of the researchers.
